Lifestyle…
I am writing about as broad a subject as Lifestyle because I believe that achievement and Lifestyle can be linked but are not linked by default. In fact they have very little to do with one another unless and until someone decides to link them. For example, a person working in a 9-5 job as a financial professional may be a high achiever at work receiving all of the accolades that any high achiever would deserve. A high quality Lifestyle is not necessarily one of them if the professional is chained to the desk and cannot afford to take time to live life beyond the office.
That said, for some people their recreation and their work are the same. They are as happy as a clam getting into rush hour traffic, driving to the office and sitting at their desk pushing paper or email all day long. They thrive on it. I don’t. It has always amazed me that this is the case, but far be it from me to tell someone how to live life.
So, when I use the words “High Quality Lifestyle” I mean a Lifestyle that one can build life around. This is not about “stuff”. Stuff is not enough. It is not about accolades at the office. Pats on the back are not enough. It is not about self-indulgence and ego as those rarely satisfy long term. It is about achieving a way of living that allows you to do meaningful things with great people in amazing places whenever you want to do them. It is about owning your life. Everyone has a Lifestyle. It’s “Quality” of Lifestyle that I like to focus on. Sometimes people just need to be made aware that they can create a better life because they are oblivious to the possibilities. Sometimes people do realize that they can create a better life but are just not willing to do what it takes. Sometimes people have been living in quiet desperation for a long time and want so badly for things to get better but they have no idea how to make it happen. I am writing about it to raise awareness and consciousness and to give you some food for thought and tools for action so that you can enjoy whatever lifestyle you desire.
Setting the base.
This is about working from where you are. It is important to know where you are at relative to where you want to be. Where you are at is your starting point. Once you know where you are relative to where you want to be you can define your current base and then begin to operate from there. What are your assets? What are your liabilities? Who do you know that can help you achieve more? Who do you know that can help you design your Lifestyle and reach a point in life where you live life to the fullest whilst creating more value than you consume? Get the answers to these questions and you will be well on your way. However, there are a couple of questions that you must answer before you will ever be able to achieve much more than you already have achieved in life. The questions are: “Have I achieved all that I am capable of achieving or I ever want to achieve in this life or is my best shot still in me”? If your best shot is still in you, ask yourself this question. Am I prepared to make some changes to “go for it”? It’s simple. Nothing improves without change but change alone does not guarantee improvement. I hate it when people die with their best shot in them. It simply does not have to be that way.
